Naughty Nachos: Bacon All You Want This December

The holiday is the season for tightening belts–and it’s not because we’re stingy. Special deals and holiday menus at restaurants have been running since November, providing very little leeway for saying no. It doesn’t help that Christmas is a time to catch up with friends, and anyone knows a good conversation is even a lot better with food.

Naughty Nachos might be a good place to consider if you’re living up north and just want to have a low-key, fun afternoon with friends this December. The joint in Maginhawa known for its Taquito-esque nachos is throwing a bacon feast this month for P295 a pop. This gets you unlimited smoked bacon or Death by Bacon with rice, eggs, pancakes and iced tea. No sharing or leftovers, of course.

Death by Bacon is a rice combo with bacon strips coated with ground nacho bits, fried to a crisp and served with a parsley egg. It’s a hefty portion that deserves to be shared, even though by principle bacon mustn’t be shared. Owned by Jeanne Pearl Cainday, Marianne Grace Borja, Pia Santiago, and Lourdes Panganiban, Naughty Nachos has been open since April this year, offering casual, tasty comfort food that’s best shared among big groups.

If you’re still hungry after all that bacon, give the nachos a try. The place is named after them after all. Naughty Nachos’ version is reminiscent of childhood snack Taquitos–crunchy corn chips dusted with barbecue powder and served generously with bits of bacon, jalapeño, light cheese sauce, and grated cheese.

Fans of Adventure Time will appreciate this version of Bacon Pancakes–slices of bacon are snug comfortably inside the pancake and served with spiced maple syrup. The bacon’s smoky and meaty, but the chocolate and cheese on top might be just a bit overkill.

The Nacho Bacon Fries (P155) are an easy favorite, tossed with cabbage strips, cheese sauce, onion, and bacon bits. The cheese coats the fries nicely, so make sure to eat them while they’re still hot.

Deviled eggs are new on the menu, but with a slight alteration from the traditional ones. Boiled eggs are topped with cheese sauce, jalapeño, and parsley. It’s a tasty combo, but it might be better with the egg yolks and the cheese sauce and toppings mixed altogether and put on top of the sliced eggs.

Pair these dishes with a large 32oz cup of Honey Lemon Tea (more lemon though please!) and one of their milkshakes, Epic Smores (P168) with marshmallows sprinkled with graham dust with choco syrup and choco stick.

If heading to QC just for bacon seems too much effort, Naughty Nachos will be opening somewhere closer to the mid and southern parts of the city next year. If you want to take advantage of their promo now though, a trip to the north might be necessary to satisfy that unbridled craving for bacon.
