Filipinos just can’t get enough of their chicken. But one undeniable favorite would be the tasty all American Buffalo Wings. We’re no strangers to the glorious ecstasy that these deep fried, heavily sauced wings give our palates; the sort of comfort that touches your soul when you bite into the crisp glazed coating and taste the juicy tenderness of the meat. It’s the kind of food you’ll crave after a break-up or failing an exam. And it’s the perfect companion for stay-ins on lazy Saturday evenings.

Wingstop

There are a couple of widely known Buffalo wing joints in the market, yet America’s No. 1 just recently made itself easily available to Filipinos who crave the very popular dish in its finest, purest form.

That’s where Wingstop comes in.

Wingstop

Wingstop is a fast-casual restaurant specializing in flavorful wings, that has been around for 21 years. From their simple beginnings, they have grown to over 650 restaurants in 6 countries. In the Philippines, Wingstop has only been in the scene for about a year with 10 stores currently open with a quick growth projection of opening around 50 more in the next 6 years.

Being a country that is culturally rich, diverse, and is passionate about food, the introduction of the Texas-sized wings proves to be an instant hit with the Filipinos’ naturally curious sense and adventurous palate.

As a self-confessed lover of chicken in all its forms, hearing about the opening of Wingstop was an exciting moment for me. With several branches in the different areas of Manila, I chose the nearest and most convenient one for me, which is in Bonifacio Stopover. Upon entering, the aviation themed restaurant felt like an ultimate pick-me-upper that gave me a fancy yet comfortable vibe. Plus points for quirky interiors, I thought. But, I came here for one reason, and one reason alone. To get myself a hefty serving of those wings.

Flavor – one word that not only describes Wingstop, it defines Wingstop. Always at their core, it has become the reason why everybody keeps on coming back for more. It’s what creates the crave that everyone’s been raving about. With 9 flavors in their current roster and one more coming right around the corner, each has its own unique way of being remembered.

I ordered the Louisiana Rub – Deep South Cajun and garlic spices that gave them wings a little lagniappe, and the Lemon Pepper  — an instant dose of sunshine with its citrus zing. I fancy the latter. I couldn’t help but order a batch of Chicken Tenders too, which I had with my favorite Bleu Cheese dip. Of course, I paired it with their well-loved Chipotle rice. If rice isn’t your thing, you can always opt to order fries or Nachos on the side. I prefer the fries with its Spicy Cajun flavor for that extra kick!

Through taste, Wingstop is able to communicate a language that everyone can understand no matter where it is in the world. Wingstop’s call to flavor consistently receives a tremendous amount of positive response – evidence that the crave for Wingstop is for real. It’s the Simple no frills way of doing chicken right!

I must say though, that although it’s a bit pricey, it’s filling and absolutely flavorful. It’s best to come there with a group to make the most out of your budget.
