Mr. Jones in Greenbelt 5 – A Blast from the Past

The “Big Boy” Fried Chicken and Waffles (PhP 350)ย appeared as beautiful as the decor. It has two large pieces of fried chicken and two waffles served with whipped butter, maple syrup, and chicken stock gravy. It is the good kind of messy that is even made more beautiful by drizzling of powdered sugar.

Jones’ Huevos Rancheros (PhP 450)ย is slow cooked sirloin chunks with cumin-scented black beans. It is topped with roasted tomato, bell pepper and salsa Fresca, American cheddar and Jack cheese, and two sunny side up eggs. Mr. Jones serves it with a sheet of fresh tortilla to add to the Mexican feel. Hot sauce is optional.

Something we tried that I believe is off the menu is this Double Smoked Bacon dish served with sunny side up eggs and homemade biscuits. Mr. Jones aims to give whatever the customer wants so if you want to mix and match stuff to get a dish that is not on the menu, you can try and ask if they could do it for you. I strongly believe Mr. Jones would as long as conditions permit to do so.

This dish is just amazing. The bacon are thick but cooked right with all the flavors locked inside it. Biting into it was just heavenly. The biscuits were also phenomenal. Never had I eaten a biscuit that sweet and savory, crisp on the outside but soft and flavorful on the inside but only at Mr. Jones.

We also had a chance to meet Chef Niehls Manzon, Chef de Parti of Mr. Jones. He told us how Mr. Jones is popular for their tapa. Definitely trying that one next time. He also raved about how good their burgers are and how they do their patties from scratch. I bet that’s something really to rave about. Going back to Mr. Jones for that one too. I heard the Superman Burger is awesome.

In all honesty, I think Chef Niehls is a great candidate to be Mr. JonesMr. Jones. ๐Ÿ™‚

We would like to thank the team from Mr. Jones and the Raintree Restaurants for accommodating us. It was indeed an afternoon of time travel and gastronomic satisfaction. Kudos!

When in Manila and looking for a blast from the past, Mr. Jones is conveniently located near the garden area of Greenbelt 5 – no time machines required. Bring your skates and pair it with a tall milkshake, and the fun times of the 60s are here once again.
