Tucked away inside Il Terrazzo Mall along Tomas Morato in Quezon City, you’ll find Mija Korean Salon. Launched in 2018, the salon is an upcoming hotspot for Korean hair and beauty cult followers.
Once you’re through the doors; you’ll be welcomed by bright, spacious interiors. The styling stations are made of wood, which contrasts against the black leather seats. The tall glass windows surrounding the styling area bring natural light in, giving clients a more accurate view of their new hair color.
Beyond aesthetics, the core of Mija is in the training of its staff and stylists. Before the launch, a stylist from Korea was flown to Manila to train the team for a couple of months. Most of the hair products, tools, and machines that they use are also from Korea, so you can tell that these guys are definitely serious about what they’re doing.
The salon has been gaining a good rep for its coloring, perming, and rebonding services. Before any treatments are done, you sit down with the stylist for a free consultation to make sure you’ll get a treatment that suits your hair. Once that’s done and all’s agreed upon, you sit on one of their comfortable leather chairs and get the pampering you’ve been looking forward to.
Once you’re settled in, you’ll be asked to wear a maroon, satin robe. Then you’ll be served coffee, tea, or juice in a tray along with candies and a cupcake before the stylist turns their attention to your hair.
You can opt for a regular cut or color; but for a major makeover, you might consider getting their Creative Color, Digital Perm, Volume Rebond or Volume Perm services.

Creative Coloring will get you the balayage, ombre, or unicorn hair color you’ve always fantasized about. Volume Perm and Volume Rebond, meanwhile, are Mija’s signature services that will give you loose curls or natural-looking straight hair. These come with a 5-step treatment, which is a service only offered at Mija according to their Marketing Manager, Jigger Ng. What this basically means is treating your hair with oil, cream and serum before the rebond/perm to protect your hair from damage.
Treatments like these mean shelling out extra; but if you’re lucky, you can catch them at their promo rates. Until July 14, Mija will be offering 70% off of their Digital Perm ( Php2,999), Volume Rebond (Php2,999) and Volume Perm (Php3,999) services. These come with the 5-step treatment, which can be availed separately at Php999.

The salon also has other hair treatments that are part of the promo. You can get Pearl Waxing (Php999), Keratin (Php999) and Keratin with collagen (Php1,999) hair treatments at the same price, regardless of hair length. Basic coloring (Php999), as well as Japanese ammonia-free hair coloring (Php1,999), are also available.
Mija’s regulars are not exclusive to women, either. Guys can also come to the salon to get trendy haircuts. Those who don’t mind experimenting with their hairstyle can also head to the salon for a Cold Perm or Down Perm, which are specifically designed to give dudes that K-idol look. The promo rates run at Php1,499 for a Cold Perm and Php699 for a Down Perm.
For a place that has only been around for a while, Mija has already gotten beaming reviews for their coloring, perming, and rebonding treatments. The staff and stylists also get a mention for being friendly, and not forcing you to have a conversation when you’re feeling less chatty.
For a weekend visits, booking through Facebook is encouraged. The salon gets busy and packed with locals, Koreans, and even famous clientele such as ABS-CBN TV host Tina Marasigan and actress Mickey Ferriols.

When the place gets packed, there’s a chance that stylists might move from one client to another, so it would be better to come during off-peak hours.
