Mbrace Project celebrated 63 young cancer survivors through a memorable graduation ceremony titled “Thriving Beyond the Fight: Celebrating Every Survivor’s Strength” at the National Children’s Hospital (NHC) last September 24, 2024.
In the Philippines, approximately 3,500 children are diagnosed with cancer every year. Despite the challenges of limited access to advanced treatments and specialized care, the fight against pediatric cancer continues to make significant strides, with survival rates improving, thanks to the efforts of organizations and healthcare advocates.
This was especially evident at the NHC last September, during a heartwarming graduation ceremony that honored the resilience and strength of 63 young cancer warriors from the NCH Blood and Cancer Care Center. These brave children, who have completed their arduous cancer treatments, symbolized hope and victory in the ongoing battle against childhood cancer.
Hosted by the Mbrace Project, the event was a tribute to these young survivors and their families, celebrating their courage and unwavering spirit. The event was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Mbrace Project co-founder Martin Sy and his family, whose support has been instrumental in aiding cancer initiatives at NCH.
The celebration also featured a sumptuous feast catered by renowned chefs Chef Lau and Jac Laudico, adding a touch of culinary delight to an already inspiring day. The survivors and their families, alongside the dedicated medical staff, were treated to an uplifting and joyous occasion filled with smiles, stories, and gratitude.
The Mbrace Project extends its heartfelt thanks to its esteemed sponsors and supporters who made this event possible: Mr. Hans Sy, Mrs. Tessie Sy-Coson, Ms. Bea Lopez de Ayala Jr., Lequestria, Mr. Mikko Tung, Ms. Bella Falcon, Mrs. Emelda Teng, and Resto PH. Their contributions continue to provide hope and much-needed assistance to the children and families battling pediatric cancer.
The event was a powerful reminder of the importance of collective action in the fight against childhood cancer, and the Mbrace Project remains committed to supporting these children as they continue to thrive beyond the fight.
