In a 34-minute sit-down interview with Karen Davila, Marian opened up about her insecurities. She revealed that while her height and hips were her insecurities growing up, the one thing she still lacks confidence in is her English-speaking skills.
“Siguro ‘yung pagsasalita ng English, kasi very big deal ‘yan sa’tin ngayon (Maybe speaking in English, because that’s a really big deal for us nowadays),” she said. “Pero kasi ako, hindi naging problema sa akin yun, kasi sa Cavite parang hindi naman kami English speaking doon, Kahit naman sa school namin, hindi nage-English lahat (But for me, that was never really a problem because in Cavite, we don’t really speak English that much. Even in our school, not everyone spoke in English).”
“Nung nagpunta lang ako sa Maynila, (When I went to Manila), you need to be fluent in English. When you have an interview, you have to [speak in English],” she added.
Despite having insecurities with her English speaking skills, the actress expressed her gratitude to her husband, Dingdong Dantes, for always being supportive and appreciative of her.
“Kaya sobrang love ko itong asawa ko. Sabi niya, ‘No. Mahal ka namin bilang ikaw (That’s why I love my husband so much. He told me, ‘No, we love you for who you are’).’ But you can improve yourself if you really want to be fluent in English. Why not? Andami diyan mga teacher and kung ano-ano pwedeng magturo sa’yo (There are so many teachers and resources out there that can teach you),” she continued.
“Okay na ako na ganito ako, kasi ito talaga ‘yung (I’m okay with being like this because I am really) comfortable ako but I can try if you want, you can ask me and I can speak in English,” she quipped, adding that her daughter, Zia, is the one fluent in the language and she is learning a lot from her.
When asked about her future plans, the Balota actress shared that she is currently content with what she has in life.
“Parang ngayon sa punto ko, hindi ko masasabing okay na okay na ako. Pero andoon ako sa kuntento ako sa nararamdaman ko at kung ano ‘yung nakamit ko. So, kung bibigyan ako ni Lord ng ibang pagkakataon, why not? Pero ngayon, kung ano ‘yung binigay niya sa akin na pamilya—Lord, thank you, doon pa lang, panalong panalo na ako (At this point in my life, I can’t say that I’m completely okay. But I am at a place where I feel content with what I have and what I’ve achieved. If God gives me another opportunity, why not? But right now, with the family He has blessed me with—Lord, thank You. That alone already makes me feel like a winner),” she affirmed.
However, she also shared that she is open to having one more child.
“Parang sabi ni Dong, ‘kung ano ‘yung nasa puso mo, hindi kita pipilitin. But if you will ask me, I want one more (Dong said something like, “Whatever is in your heart, I won’t force you. But if you ask me, I want one more),'” she mentioned, adding that her husband will always support her life decisions.
