Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes recently joined Janno Gibbs and Bing Loyzaga on their YouTube show to talk about what has kept their marriage going for over a decade.

When asked about the last time she felt jealous, Rivera said it had been a long time. “Ang tagal na. Ang tagal nang hindi. After nang nanganak ako, parang nawala na,” she shared, joking that there’s little reason for jealousy now since they’re already married.
Dantes also talked about how he makes sure his wife feels safe in their relationship. “Number one, kailangan ‘yung constant reassurance na ‘everything is alright na wala namang dahilan para maramdaman mo ‘yan.’ Kailangan talaga ‘yung effort na parating pinapaalala ‘yun. And, siyempre, to begin with, wala naman talagang dapat [ipagselos],” he explained.
Rivera said she has always been open about her feelings. “Tayong mga babae, masyado tayong expressive sa mga nararamdaman natin. Masyado tayong transparent. Masyado tayong vocal. Okay ako nang ganoon kaysa naman kikimkimin ko. I think magandang proseso rin ‘yun na naging open ako sa mga nararamdaman ko sa kanya kaya I think nagtagal ‘yung relasyon naming dalawa,” she said.
The couple, married for 11 years, reflected on what has made their relationship last. Dantes shared that their years together strengthened his belief in why they chose each other.
Rivera acknowledged that marriage comes with challenges. “Ang mga babae, marami ring ginagawa para sa pamilya. Doon ko mas na-realize na ito talaga ang pangarap ko. At gagawin ko talaga ang lahat para maging maayos ang buhay na ito kasama ang mga anak namin. Si Dong kasi, supportive siya sa lahat ng mga ginagawa ko. Doon mas nagiging makabuluhan ang relationship niyo na hindi lang puro saya—may pagkakataon din talaga na magkakaroon kayo ng problema. Pero at the end of the day, mare-realize mo, mananaig pa rin talaga ‘yung pagmamahal niyo sa isa’t isa,” she said.
She added that being able to support each other’s weaknesses is a key part of true love. “Para sa akin, ang true love talaga is hindi lang dahil guwapo siya ngayon, provider ko siya ngayon. Mas mamahalin ko siya sa mga panahon na kinakailangan na ‘yung mga weakness niya ay napupunan ko. Nung nakita ko na napupunan ko ‘yung weakness ‘yun, doon ko na-realize na compatible talaga kaming dalawa [at] ibinigay talaga siya para sa akin para tulungan ko siya at tulungan niya ako sa mga bagay na nahihirapan ako,” Rivera shared.
Even after more than a decade, the couple’s bond shows the ups and downs of marriage, and the effort it takes to keep it strong.
