Spotted in Manila: Squid Game Auditions Posters?

Manila is currently buzzing with rumors of Squid Game auditions, and no, it’s not for a Netflix reboot. Apparently, an unknown organization is seeking contestants for a competition of the same name with a prize of 456,000 pesos!

The alleged auditions are shrouded in secrecy with cryptic flyers popping up in jeepneys and sari-sari stores, featuring a circle and different numbers. Social media is ablaze with speculation with hashtags like #SquidGameManila and #PatinteroToTheDeath trending.

What’s even more intriguing are the rumored games contestants will have to endure:

  • Patintero Peril: A high-stakes version of the classic patintero where contestants must navigate a grid while avoiding deadly “taggers.”
  • Piko Pandemonium: A hopscotch challenge with a twist – contestants must navigate a deadly maze while avoiding hidden traps.
  • Sungka Showdown: A strategic board game turned into a battle of wits, with losers facing a “less than ideal” outcome.
  • Agawan Base Apocalypse: A territorial game that is played to the extreme with teams fighting for control of bases.

The alleged organizers, known only as “The Kalabaw Collective,” have remained tight-lipped, adding to the mystery. Some suspect it’s a viral marketing stunt while others believe it’s a genuine, albeit highly dangerous, competition.

The Philippine National Police has issued a statement urging caution warning against participating in any potentially harmful activities. “We are aware of the circulating rumors,” said Police Chief Juan K. Maniwala. “We advise the public to exercise extreme caution and report any suspicious activities.”
