Manila City starts localized targeted mass testing operations for COVID-19

Manila City is now starting localized targeted mass testing operations for COVID-19. In a Facebook post by the Manila PIO, they announced that they are now capable of conducting 1,000+ COVID-19 tests weekly.

Along with the Manila Health Department (MHD), six district hospitals were also given the green light to conduct mass testing. The following hospitals are:

  • Ospital ng Maynila
  • Sta. Ana Hospital/MIDCC
  • Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center
  • Ospital ng Tondo
  • Justice Jose Abad Santos General Hospital
  • Ospital ng Sampaloc

The post states that these facilities can collectively conduct about 232 COVID-19 tests every day (1,624 per week). These swab tests will be processed by either the Department of Health’s Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (DOH-RITM) or the University of the Philippines Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH).

As of writing, there have been 4,648 reported cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines, with 297 deaths and 197 recoveries.
