Lupita Nyong’o hailed as People’s Most Beautiful Woman: The Bronze Perfection

Yep, you read that right: Lupita Nyong’o, the stunning bronze beauty who turned heads at the recent Oscars, has been named People magazine’s Most Beautiful Woman of 2014.

Born in Mexico and raised in Kenya, Lupita Nyong’o won this year’s Academy award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as the slave Patsey in the critically acclaimed film “12 Years a Slave”. Gracing the cover in nude makeup, Lupita Nyong’o said she “never dreamed” she would ever receive such an honour because she grew up believing that the standards of beauty, being “light skin and long, flowing straight hair”, didn’t fit her.

Lupita Nyong’o’s cover marks the fourth time in People magazine’s history that anethnically diverse individual” has graced the cover of the “Most Beautiful” issue. Fellow Oscar winner Halle Berry was the first for its 2003 issue, followed by Jennifer Lopez in 2011 and Beyonce in 2012. Having seen the history, People has really this magnificent eye in deciding who the goddesses are every year.

3 Reasons Why We Totally Agree with People:

1. She is simple and natural.

After bagging the Oscar, Lupita Nyong’o “laid low for a week”  and basically wore the same outfit everyday. “It felt great,” she said afterwards.

Sticking to her humble roots, Lupita Nyong’o also said, “I was happy for all the girls who would see me on it and feel a little more seen.” The actress says of nabbing not only the title, but the coveted cover, “It was exciting and just a major, major compliment,”

Growing up in the “light skin and long, flowing straight hair” beauty stigma was Lupita Nyong’o’s idea of beauty, an ideal that was represented with what she watched on television. She also says that her mother always said she “was beautiful” and that she “finally believed her at some point.”

 2. She is an effortless fashion icon.

Getting praises every year at the red carpet for her divine style and build, fashion is just freely flowing from this woman’s beauty and confidence. To top it all off, she became the new face of the French cosmetics and skincare company, Lancome Paris, earlier this month.

3. She is inspiring.

There is so much more than the bronze perfection we can see on the outside. This woman is also wise and has a ton of spirit.

On a video for a mag, this bronze beauty said, “I feel most beautiful when I’m content”. Also adding, “That for me is more important than my physical presentation because it’s through inner contentment and happiness that I care about my presentation.”

After her speech at the recent Academy awards, she came up with the moving line “I look down at this golden statue, and may it remind me and every little child that no matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid.”

Awww, Lupita, you are just amazing.
