On February 18, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) approved the LRT-1 fare hike, which will take effect starting April 2.

Under the revised fare matrix, the minimum fare for the cheapest single-journey ticket will increase from P15 to P20, while the maximum fare for a round-trip journey will rise from P45 to P55.

In January, the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) filed a petition to implement fare hikes in order to maintain and improve LRT-1 services, including rail lines, facilities, additional trains, and the construction of the first phase of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension.
