Reports surfaced online that the popular LGBT-themed TV drama The L Word is getting a revival. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Showtime has reportedly ordered an eight-episode revival of the show that is set to premiere later this year.

Rumors about its revival have already come out since 2017 but it has only been confirmed this January by Showtime.

The original cast members Jennifer Beals, Kate Moennig, and Leisha Hailey are expected to come back as Bette, Shane, and Alice, respectively. They will also serve as executive producers of the show.

Ilene Chaiken, the creator of the show, will also serve as executive producer of the show’s revival. However, the new showrunner will be Marja-Lewis Ryan.

According to Showtime, the original characters will star “alongside a new generation of self-possessed LGBTQIA characters experiencing love, heartbreak, sex, setbacks, and success in L.A.”

The series had a great run from 2004 to 2009. It ended with a cliffhanger where one of the characters, Jenny, dying. Her death was never resolved (so it might be resolved this time around?).
