If you’re a milk tea addict who’s trying to steer away from the usual pearly drinks, we’ve got good news for you. Actual drinks aren’t your only option to get your milk tea fix anymore. Now, there’s cake!
That’s right, milk tea cake exists. You can get it delivered right to your doorstep, and it comes with actual pearls!
The Bubble Tea Cake is the brainchild of NBC School of Baking and Cake Decorating, and it was only released just this month. This school and family business in Marikina is known for offering world-class baking and cake decorating workshops by Chef Jun Florendo. Now, they’re about to be known as the geniuses behind the Bubble Tea Cake.

It all started with Hannah Florendo’s craving for something with pearls, but she shares with WhenInManila.com that she was starting to get fed up with having it with drinks. At the time, the family was already conceptualizing a new matcha flavored tin can cake (something to look forward to!), and that’s when she thought of creating a Bubble Tea Cake.
The recipe was created by Hannah herself. “The cake has four layers,” she says. A wintermelon cake, modified rock salt and cheese, a milk tea float, and pearls! The cake comes refrigerated in a tin can, with the pearls all in a separate container. It’s best enjoyed when you pop it into the refrigerator before eating it (but not with the pearls! The pearls stay outside to be added once you’re ready to eat the cake).
Personally, I loved the cake! It’s definitely a different experience when you eat cake and it tastes exactly like milk tea WITH pearls. I love how the milk tea flavor surprises you with each bite. It’s not too sweet, and it’s very flavorful. The sweet pearls add such a different texture that I wouldn’t have imagined to be something I’d experience with cake.
This Bubble Tea Cake is something you must try once in your lifetime!
