Alger Guevarra has been living in La Union for years now as a full-time artist after leaving his corporate life in Manila for one moreย in tune with nature. Creating realistic portraits of well-known characters is enough to impress anyone who may chance upon his artworks. However, it is the material and method he uses to create these portraits that truly blows us away.
The artist makes use of rubber slippers in various shades he’s found discarded or donated to him and grinds them to a pulp. He then proceeds to mix the ground rubber with glue to create a colored paste similar to normal paint.
The results are remarkable and truly resemble actual oil paintings.
