One can’t help but be inspired and in awe of Kim Chiu’s “Bawal Lumabas” saga—from her becoming the subject of social media jokes to recording a new song based on her experience and, finally, to creating a merch line for the benefit of those affected by the public health crisis.
Now, Kim is giving back to the community to celebrate her success story by distributing relief goods to 1,500 families and donating the PHP300,000 she raised from the sale of her “Bawal Lumabas” shirts to Angel Locsin’s Shop and Share program that aims to fund COVID-19 mass testing in the Philippines.
“Thank you po sa lahat ng sumupporta sa #BawalLumabasMerch (Thank you to everyone who supported my #BawalLumabasMerch). We were able to give food package sa (to) 1,500 families and 300 thousand pesos for mass testing donated to Shop and Share!” Kim announced on her Instagram post. “Maraming maraming salamat! (Many, many thanks!) Journey was like a roller coaster ride but I’m glad it ended this way.”
