Fil-Am performer Apl de Ap is paying homage to his roots again as Black Eyed Peas returns with a new album. In Translation, they have a song called “Mabuti,” featuring French Montana.
Apart from “Mabuti,” the band’s new member is Jessica Reynoso, a finalist from the first-ever season of The Voice of the Philippines, where Apl de Ap was a judge. She is now known as J. Rey Soul.
“Mabuti” is mostly in English with a touch of Spanish, and a few lines in Filipino. Some lines include, “The way you break it down make me wanna go pursue it / Sa iyong galaw, hindi ‘ko matiis na ‘di mapatanaw / I like the way you drop it, writin’ on your booty it’s my number one topic / Ako’y natulala, para bang nagayuma sa katawan mong maganda / I like the way you shake it.”

This is Black Eyed Peas’ first album since Masters of the Sun Vol. 1 in 2018. J. Rey Soul describes the album as, “It’s very Afrobeat, Latin vibe, dance — just very uplifting music, which is what we need right now at this time of our life, you know?”
