Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams open to ‘Mean Girls’ sequel after 16 years

Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams just said that they are open to star in a Mean Girls sequel and if that’s not “so fetch” then IDK what is.

Last week, Lohan said in an interview with David Spade, “I think I was hanging on to [Mean Girls] for a really long idea. I wanted to come back with a Mean Girls 2 with the same cast, work with Tina [Fey], and the whole crew again, and [Mean Girls director] Mark Waters…But that’s all in their hands, really.”

And then, during the Heroes of Health: COVID-19 Stream-a-thon over the weekend, McAdams said, “It would be fun to play Regina George later in her life and see where life took her!” She also added that there have been “joking” conversations about the sequel but nothing serious yet.

Mean Girls was released 16 years ago, so it may be time for another. Although there was a Mean Girls 2 weirdly released in 2011, it is not at par to the original and it only has gotten 31% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Other cast members like Amanda Seyfried have also expressed that they are open to doing a second movie, but as Lohan said, we’re mostly just waiting on Tina Fey, who is working on a Mean Girls movie that’s based on the Broadway musical, which is based on the original movie.

Yes There Will Be a Mean Girls Musical and It Will Premiere Next Year

What is happening right now seems to be a roundabout way to make another film with the same characters. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that this could be a step towards making a movie with the original cast.
