UPLB Statistical Society is an academic organization that has consistently taken part in shaping statistical discourse and engagement within and beyond the university. Over the years, it has participated in various academic, campus, and outreach initiatives that aim to strengthen statistical awareness and engagement among the youth. The organization has been recognized for its sustained advocacy work, including being a PSA-recognized affiliate organization and a recipient of the Best Youth Group Advocate for Statistics during the National Statistics Month. Recently, the organization was also acknowledged with a Seal of Excellence in Leadership as a nominee in the 2025 UPLB Natatanging Organisasyon (UNO). As the organization marks 45 years, it continues to carry out its work guided by the same principles of service, leadership, and relevance.
One of the organization’s longest-running initiatives is ESTADISTIKA, which was first held in 2007 as an inter-high school invitational statistics quiz for schools in the CALABARZON region. In the years that followed, the event expanded to include essay writing and poster-making contests and welcomed participation from schools across Luzon. Through these activities, ESTADISTIKA has provided students with opportunities to think critically, present ideas, and see how statistics applies to real situations beyond the classroom.
Now in its 20th year, ESTADISTIKA 2026 continues this tradition with the theme “ESTAnaw: Ang Sining ng Pagbabago ng Wika at Kultura sa Mata ng Datos.” This year’s theme focuses on how data can be used to examine changes in language and culture, and how these changes reflect broader social realities. The event will feature the statistics quiz, essay writing, and poster-making contests and will be held on March 14, 2026, at the University of the Philippines Los Baños.
