League of Legends: Summoners Gather for the Annual Rampage Event
It was a ‘Legendary’ experience as thousands of League of Legends players or so-called ‘Summoners’ gathered together for the annual League of Legends event, this year entitled Rampage 2014.
This year’s Rampage event was held at a bigger venue at the World Trade Center. The organizers of the event prepared more exciting activities and non-stop e-sports action wherein we could see the tournament live on wide screen. The queuing started as early as 5 in the morning. The security force was very strict for every individual entering the said venue. Still, the long lines didn’t stop the League of Legends fans to get in and enjoy the once in a year bonding with the other players around the nation. Some people even travelled from their provinces for the said event.
The program started at 10 o’clock in the morning with the entire semi-finalists for the tournament being introduced. Some of the event goers rushed to the redemption booth to get their freebie loot bags courtesy of Garena Philippines. There was also a hall called the ‘Carnival’ where friends could enjoy playing some parlor games in each booth and win exclusive items from the League – items that cannot be bought from local shops.
The Cosplay Clash began in the afternoon, wherein the participants showcased their League of Legends-inspired costumes. The stage became a real life ‘Summoner’s Rife’ when each cosplayer brought their Champions to life as they walked the catwalk. There were two categories for the said program: individual and group cosplay. In group cosplay, participants made a short skit and mini-movie related to the story of League of Legends.
The main event was the GameX Pro Gaming Series where you could see your favorite teams compete with each other to represent Philippines in the South East Asian Esports competition. Rampage 2014 brought the LOL fanatics closer to every match as they cheered and chanted for their voted teams.
The program did not end without the mini-concert of the band Imago led by their vocalist Mayumi Gomez. The audience went crazy as they sung along with the band, especially when they sang their latest single ‘Kapit’.
The favorite part of all of the event comers was the raffle, where everyone got a chance to win premium goodies courtesy of the sponsors of Rampage 2014. The prizes ranged from hoodies to awesome high tech gaming gadgets worth thousands of pesos.
The overall experience was far beyond what everyone expected. In fact, people all around the venue were already talked about next year’s Rampage event. Event goers were very satisfied and now look forward to more surprises and a new program lineup for 2015. The security around the vicinity was tight that few to no untoward incidents happened except for some lost items and lost companions due to the big crowd. Every corner of the venue was well organized. Participants of the said event were very cooperative with all of the rules and regulations of the organisers, too. Rampage 2014 was definitely one of the best events of the year, in my opinion.
