On June 30, Secretary Francis Tolentino announced a “historic” P85 daily wage increase for over 1.1 million minimum wage earners in Metro Manila.
“Masaya ko pong ibinabahagi ngayong umaga bilang pagsunod din sa tagubilin ng ating mahal na Pangulong Marcos at ng National Wage Board, itinataas po natin ang sweldo ng lahat ng manggagawa dito sa Metro Manila,” Tolentino said in an official statement.
Most minimum wage earners in Metro Manila currently receive P695 per day. With the approved wage hike, the daily minimum wage will increase to P780.
More details regarding the approved wage hike are yet to be released.
