According to National Statistician and Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) chief Claire Dennis Mapa, the purchasing power of ₱1 is now at 0.73 centavos, based on 2018 prices.

A lower purchasing power means you can buy fewer goods with the same amount. As a result, the value of ₱100 in 2018 is now equivalent to only ₱73 in 2026, while ₱1,000 is now worth ₱730.

In March 2026, the PSA reported that the value of ₱1 in March 2026 was at 0.75 centavos, which was also based in 2018 prices.

The decline in the peso’s purchasing power can be attributed to inflation. Following the country’s inflation rate of 4.1% in March 2026, the rate in April 2026 made a significant jump to 7.2%.
