When in Manila and you are craving for new innovative Asian Fusion dishes, Krazy Garlik is the place to go to! Krazy Garlic, located in Greenbelt 5, can bring you to Garlic Land where each dish is creatively and thoughtfully infused with garlic. They now have 22 new dishes for you to taste! And they all feature the ever so nutritious and tasty star ingredient: garlic.
Having to cook with a star ingredient reminds me of the TV show called “Iron Chef”. But unlike the intimidating kitchen stadium of the show, Krazy Garlik is delightfully decorated with an Alice in Garlic Land theme. Krazy Garlik even has garlic character stuffed toys!
Here is Alice in Garlic Land!
Believe me, the garlic taste isn’t overwhelming or overpowering in Krazy Garlik’s dishes. Krazy Garlik is able to blend the garlic perfectly in their appetizers, main courses, and desserts. Yes, you heard me right, desserts!
For starters, we had the Amazing Krazy Garlik Salad (Php 495 to share, Php 275 regular), a refreshing Asian salad mix with cucumber, bell peppers, onions and oriental chicken strips tossed in sesame lime dressing and topped with crispy fried wanton and sweet peanut sauce.
A few minutes later, a large square shaped plate adorned with stir-fried chicken meat, mangoes, turnips and garlic chips was served together with a colorful array of sauces and wraps. As the name Krazy Garlic Lettuce (Php 395) suggests, the chicken filling is best eaten when wrapped in crisp fresh lettuce. Among the sweet chili, garlic ranch and hoisin sauces, my personal favorite is their garlic ranch dressing. Yum!
Ooh! The fantabulous mountain high Candied Shrimp and Walnut (Php 450) is a must have if you are a seafood lover! These battered shrimps are delightfully coated with honey dressing and served with candied walnut and mandarin orange bits. The combination of the warm fat shrimps, crunchy walnut and the cool veggies did wonders.
For the main course, you may order a complete meal like Crispy Orange Shrimp (Php 595), where you can enjoy fresh shrimp coated in special batter tossed in sweet homemade orange sauce. This is served on a platter with chao fried rice, luau vegetables and garlic flakes.
Don’t leave Krazy Garlik without trying their Filipino specialty, the Krazy Garlik’s Crispy Pata (Php 695). The skin is ultra crips, while the pork meat ultra tender. The roasted whole garlic bulb garnish on the side may also be eaten. Hesitant at first, but I tried it anyway. It has a soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture. Reminds me of garlic bread.
The crispy pork knuckle is oddly, yet delightfully, served with a refreshing cup of kimchi.
Time for dessert! The most exciting part of the meal! (Well, for my anyway.) We had the Crepe Dynamite (Php 395). Peaches, glazed with nutella, were rolled in delicate crepe cover. Each crepe roll is topped with candied garlic and walnut. It was my first time to taste a garlic that didn’t taste like garlic at all. It was so sweet like honey!
Crepe Dynamite is served with a generous scoop of mango ice cream.
So if you want a krazy delish journey, make sure to drop by Krazy Garlik when in Manila!
