KPop Group X1 Has Disbanded

The hashtag #WeTrustX1 trended earlier today as the Korean boy group X1 announced their disbandment after vote-rigging allegations. In a joint statement, the entertainment companies that were managing the group decided to disband them after failing to reach an agreement with management CJ ENM.

The statement reads: “The X1 members and each of the agencies negotiated under the condition of unanimous agreement; but we could not come to an agreement, so we have decided on their disbandment.”

X1 made their debut last August 2019 after winning in Season 4 of the Korean reality show ‘Produce X 101’. Promotions for the group ended in November when a police investigation revealed allegations that the producers accepted bribes to favor certain members while the competition was ongoing.

The producers of the show were arrested soon thereafter, revealing that the results were indeed manipulated.
