Kai Sotto sustained an ACL injury during the Koshigaya Alphasโ game against the SeaHorses Mikawa in the Japan B. League on January 5.
The team announced that he had been placed on the injury list, sidelining him from the B. League Asia Rising Star Game on January 18 and the third window of the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers in February.
“We would like to inform you that #11 Kai Sotto was injured in the game against Seahorse Mikawa on Sunday, January 5, 2025, and was diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, so he has been placed on the injured list,” the Koshigaya Alphas said.
On Instagram, Sotto reflected on his ACL injury, describing it as the darkest day of his basketball career.
“The worst way to start the year, [it] might be the darkest day of my basketball career, when I was told I tore my ACL. Tough to let this one sink in,” he wrote.
