According to his recent post, Johnny Depp was asked to resign by Warner Bros from the upcoming Fantastic Beasts movie where he played Gellert Grindelwald in its first two installments. The third sequel, another film adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s books, had only begun shooting last month but it looks like we are going to see a new Grindelwald as the studio confirms the recasting of the character.
This was after losing the libel case he filed against “The Sun.” The British newspaper published an article in 2016 calling Depp a “wife-beater” based on news that his ex-wife Amber Heard was granted a temporary restraining order against him. Heard’s allegations that her ex-husband had physically and verbally abused her during their marriage have always been denied by Depp. He claims that Heard had abused him in reality and has continued to receive support from both the public and celebrity peers.
Heard, on the other hand, retains her role in the upcoming sequel of Aquaman as of writing despite a petition signed by hundreds of thousands of fans to remove her from the highest-grossing DC Comics adaptation ever made. It was earlier reported though that there will be three female characters in Aquaman 2 to reduce Heard’s screen time without affecting the storyline.
