With this, many people criticized the palette, calling the beauty guru “insensitive” and “tone-deaf,” considering the pandemic that is happening right now. In an Instagram post last weekend, he already clarified some of the controversies over the palette.

However, Star took to his YouTube channel to further address more of the negative comments the palette has received. In a YouTube video titled, “Responding to the Backlash Over My Cremated Palette,” the beauty guru talked about why he had to release this palette at this time.

The beauty guru explained that he came up with the collection idea over a year ago. Star said that the release was already delayed because of “everything going on,” and that he would risk selling expired makeup if the release was pushed back further.

“For me, this is art, and I never come from a negative place, you guys,” he said, talking about the palette. “In no way was this created to be offensive, ever.”
