After months of rumor and speculation surrounding the role, Warner Bros. has finally decided that Robert Pattinson will be our next Dark Knight!
It was recently confirmed by Deadline that the studio has chosen Pattinson to wear the cape as Bruce Wayne/Batman in a new trilogy for the iconic superhero.

Pattinson has been in headlines for weeks now because of him being linked to this new production. Outlets reported that Warner Bros. was considering him and fellow British actor Nicholas Hoult for the role while other publications reported that he had the role in the bag from the get-go.
While this casting seems exciting for a lot of Pattinson’s fans, a lot of comic book and long-time DCEU fans have been scratching their heads at the casting.

Pattinson is considerably younger than previous Batman actors Ben Affleck and Christian Bale but there is an explanation to that. The new series will follow a younger Bruce Wayne that’s not so hardened by time.
Sadly but expectedly, as it is yet another reboot, this Batman series will have no relation to the Batman Ben Affleck has portrayed in Batman Vs. Superman and Justice League.
Currently, Pattinson is still undergoing negotiations regarding his contract but we’re gladly welcoming him to the Batfam!
‘The Batman’ trilogy will be directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In, War of the Planet of the Apes) and the first film is set to come out sometime in 2021.
