On Wednesday, July 10, staff from Casper’s Bird Rescue discovered more than 60 birds which reportedly had its eyes and beaks bleeding in a suspected mass poisoning in South Australia.

The founder of local charity Casper’s Bird Rescue, Sarah King described the disturbing event like: “what we were seeing was something out of a horror movie. The birds weren’t able to fly and were lying on the ground wailing in pain. Some birds were bleeding out of their mouth. That immediately made us think of poisoning, which we’ve seen before,” she shared with BBC.

Her staff saw it first and they shared that: “When he got there, he rang me, really distressed, and said there were more than he could handle,” King mentioned. “They were literally falling out of the trees in front of him, falling out of the sky.”

Currently, it is reported that the government is doing its part in investigating the cause of deaths of the birds and a toxicology report is expected to take several weeks.
