Hong Kong is one of the go-to destinations for food trips, especially for Filipinos. Now, if you’re still waiting for your next trip to Hong Kong and you’re already missing the food, you can get your fix at Honolulu Cafe.

Honolulu Cafe originated in Hong Kong serving egg tart, coffee, milk tea, buns, and mouthwatering comfort dishes. This restaurant chain now has 3 branches in the Philippines so you can enjoy the best of Hong Kong cuisine even without leaving the country.

We got to try out some of their bestselling dishes at their Greenbelt branch and it was such a fantastic foodie experience.

First, we started with an appetizer slash snack: the classic Curry Fish Balls—such a flavorful way to start the gastronomic feast that was to come.

For our mains, we got to enjoy some of their bestselling barbecued meat selection. The Roasted BBQ Pork Belly “TORO” was definitely one of the most flavorful dishes I’ve ever tried. I loved how tender the pork belly was as well—so juicy, too!

As a fan of all things crispy, I couldn’t get enough of the Roasted Pork Belly, especially with the super crispy skin and the flavorful pork meat. This is definitely one of the must-try dishes at Honolulu Cafe!

If you’re in the mood for something saucy with great flavors, you should definitely try the Hong Kong Curry in Casserole. I personally loved how the curry wasn’t overpowering yet it was so flavorful and tasty. The beef brisket was also cooked to tender perfection.

Of course, we couldn’t not have rice. We tried the Scrambled Egg with Smoked Duck Fried Rice which was so filling and very satisfying, especially with the beautiful blend of flavors from the savory fried rice and the delicious smoked duck.

And if you’re looking for seafood Hong Kong classics, you should definitely get the Deep Fried Prawns with Thousand Island Sauce. This was also one of my personal favorites thanks to the delicious Thousand Island sauce that coated the massive crispy prawns. It was such an easy dish to devour!

While Honolulu Cafe’s hearty feast was more than enough to give us our fill, we couldn’t resist enjoying their iconic egg tarts and Bo Lo Buns.

Their egg tarts are super creamy and I loved how the pastry crust didn’t crumble in my hands the moment I took a bite. If you’re a fan of egg tarts, you should definitely take home a whole box from Honolulu Cafe.

The Bo Lo Buns was another instant favorite from Honolulu Cafe. These sweet and savory buns feature delicious fillings such as barbeque pork, red bean, and butter. It’s reminiscent of the classic toasted siopao, but bigger and with a more flavorful bun with a crisp outer crust.
