Beloved animeย Yu Yu Hakusho, also widely known as Ghost Fighter, is coming back on stage next month for Part Two of its official stage play performance!
If you hadn’t heard about this play before, the first part ran from August to September 2019 in various places in Japan. Now, it’s returning for a sequel featuring even more characters–including one of the most iconic antagonists in Japanese anime, Younger Toguro (known to Filipinos as Taguro)!
To further hype up loyal fans of Yu Yu Hakushoย for the stage play coming this December, the official websiteย unveiled the new visuals for the cast of characters. Naturally, it was Taguro’s that caught our attention the most. See a comparison of how he looks in the anime and how he is portrayed by actor Hironori Takyama below:
Upon seeing the photo, Filipino fans couldn’t help but point out how the stage play actor evidently has fewer muscles than in the canon character design, joking that Taguro hasn’t reached his 100% yet. Others, however, expressed excitement over the character and kept referencing Taguro’s famous lines in the Filipino dubbed anime.
One thing’s for sure: we’re definitely looking forward to seeing him in action in the stage play. It will run from December 4-15 at Shinagawa Prince Hotel Stellar Ball in Tokyo, from December 18-20 at Cool Japanย Park Osaka WW Hall in Osaka, and from December 23-30 at Kyoto Gekijo in Kyoto.

Yu Yu Hakusho first aired in 1992 based on the manga created by Yoshihiro Togashi. It follows the story of delinquent Yusuke Urameshi who dies after saving a kid from a speeding car. But because neither Heaven nor Hell has made a place for him (due to their surprise over his sacrifice despite his dishonorable history), they then decide to give him a chance to return to the land of the living through a series of tests. He then becomes a Spirit World Detective in charge of investigating supernatural occurrences in the mortal realm.
Taguro serves as the final antagonist of the manga’s Spirit Detective Saga and is also the main foe in the Dark Tournament Saga. He is the leader of both the Apparition Gang and Team Toguro, alongside his brother, Elder Toguro.
