Here’s the situation with Grab Food, Food Panda and Lalafood during the Coronavirus

The ongoing Enhanced Community Quarantine because of Covid-19 has left us with limited access to food and other basic needs. Thankfully, there are delivery services out there who can get the job done. And when it comes to food deliveries, the trifecta— GrabFood, Food Panda and Lalamove— are top of mind choices. Here are their policies during the ongoing Covid-19:

Food Delivery Services

GrabFood PH and GrabExpress

GrabFood focuses on delivering food from partner restaurants, while GrabExpress is a delivery service for parcels, documents, and non-food items. A branch of the transport service Grab, GrabFood initially announced that it was going to suspend operations on March 17, but recently took back its statement that same day at 1:30PM. Currently, both GrabFood and GrabExpress resume operations with a “skeletal fleet”. While they still practice the no-contact policy and frequently sanitize their bags, deliveries may take a long time depending on demand.

All Grab Transport will still be temporarily suspended following the Covid-19 outbreak.

FoodPanda

An independent food delivery service partnered with various restaurants, Food Panda first notified users on March 17 via the app that: “We’re unavailable right now. Foodpanda has suspended its services in Luzon until further notice…”. But after getting the go signal from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), they’re back in action— with free delivery on every order!

Lalafood

A branch from the delivery service Lalamove, Lalafood is a delivery service focused on food. While Grab and Foodpanda initially suspended operations, Lalafood remained operational even with Covid-19. They strongly enforce the no-physical contact policy, and all their riders have been trained for that.
