Strawberry Cheesecake Stuffed French Toast – PHP 290.00

While still savoring the Chicken Caesar Sandwich and with other bloggers shooting away at the other table with gusto, we were served the Strawberry Cheesecake Stuffed French Toast. A cheesecake filled brioche with whipped cream and strawberry preserve.

This is when I got my second serving of the iced tea.

Peanut Butter, Banana & Chocolate Stuffed French Toast – PHP 290.00

Harina’s Peanut Butter, Banana & Chocolate Stuffed French Toast was soon served after that. Although I already love fresh strawberries and cream; the combination of peanut butter, bananas, chocolate spread and honey walnut bread tickled my taste buds more than its strawberry filled counterpart – it is that good!

If bread is not your fancy, though, Harina also serves rice dishes (with homemade corned beef, Lucab longganisa or bangus belly served with fried eggs and garlic fried rice) and steak, too!

Harina’s Breakfast Tart – a puff pastry shell filled with cream cheese, spinach, baked tomatoes, bacon and eggs, and yet another attack on the taste buds, though a good break from all the sweet pastries being served. Something that could have been mistaken to be from The Fabulous Baker Brothers of TLC. Something that should be eaten while warm and should go well with fresh juice or…

Harina’s House Red Tea – PHP 125.00

The House Red Tea. A shot of black tea, a shot of grenadine, blended to perfection and topped with a slice of lemon and a sprig of mint to add freshness.

Not on the menu: Cronuts! Chocolate (top), blueberry (right) and peanut butter (bottom).

What’s this? Another item not on the menu? The Cronuts; a devilish concoction devised to clog up your arteries. A cross breed of croissants and doughnuts, these things are addictive and not too sweet. Every bite is a burst of rainbows and in my opinion should be on the menu.

Waldorf Salad Sandwich – PHP 220.00

The Waldorf Salad Sandwich – a flaky pastry stuffed with apples, celery, chicken and chopped walnuts in mayonnaise was served last, but it definitely was not the least.

As we finished tasting, and with the anime Yakitate!! Japan and visions of bread sticks dipped in peppered soft boiled eggs playing on my mind, I was happy to see something like this come up. Fresh artisan bread bordering boutique in choices either savory or sweet, Harina Artisan Bakery does what was promised: making beautiful things happen everyday. And that is indeed a wonderful thing When in Manila.
