A smashing success, literally and figuratively, is the best way to describe the grand opening party of Hard Rock Café Manila at S’Maison at Conrad Manila.
In keeping with the tradition in every Hard Rock Café’s branch launch worldwide, the smashing of guitars was much-awaited. Here, the ceremonial guitar smash was led by Journey frontman Arnel Pineda no less. He was joined by Hard Rock honchos: Steve Yang, Hard Rock Int’l. Area Vice-President of Development and Operations for Asia Pacific; William Stelton, The Bistro Group’s Chairman and CEO; Anibal Fernandez, Hard Rock Int’l Vice-President of Franchise Operations and Jean Paul Manuud, The Bistro Group’s President and COO.
According to the Pinoy rock star, it was a homecoming of sorts for him to perform at Hard Rock Café. He recalled that one of the bands he formed during he 1980s (9mm) used to hold gigs at Hard Rock Café Makati. Journey as a band previously performed a nine-show mini-residency at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas when they launched their “Escape” and “Frontiers” albums, as well.
Arnel raves about the intimate yet energetic vibe at the restobar. It was the same vibe he got during the opening party when he wowed the crowd with a tribute medley of Queen songs: Love of My Life, Bohemian Rhapsody, We are the Champions and We Will Rock You. And rock he did! He was all over the stage jumping, belting his heart out, and singing along with the crowd.

According to Arnel, Hard Rock Cafe is one of the few places where he can be himself and lose himself in his music. It is home for him and to other rock icons and famous bands all over the world. In-between his performances, he said he’s looking forward to being a regular performer at Hard Rock Café Manila. That is really something to look forward to!
Besides rocking performances from the current mainstays Ice Bucket, Big Nite Out and Maria’s Project; there is so much to enjoy at Hard Rock Café Manila, such as good old American favorites burgers and steaks paired with thirst-quenching drinks perfect for the summer.
