I haven’t worked out since last year and I know I am really out of shape. Doing food reviews for WheninManila.com means eating a lot and not properly burning them. I’ve tried a few fitness centers but nothing really suited my fancy because I am not a big fan of weight lifting.
Grind House opened April of 2016 and offers gym use, trainers, Grind The Fat Out classes, boxing with conditioning, and Muaythai with conditioning. If you just want access to the gym, you can get that with a semi-private training feel. Their trainers will help you out and give you a customized workout plan depending on what your goal is.
The gym is pretty spacious. It is the right size for groups and even a basketball team.
During my workout sessions at Grind House, I never had the problem of having the gym too crowded which can sometimes make you feel shy to workout. There were only a few people and the ambiance is perfect if you want to concentrate on your training sessions.
The regular program I decided to join to is the Grind The Fat Out class which focuses on functional training. It targets fat loss, endurance, lean muscle gain, and strength. It is perfect for those who don’t want to lift too much, but want a good sweat.
GTFO Classes are headed by a Grind House coach. The workouts vary everyday.
When you enroll for the GTFO Classes, you can workout as many times you want. You just have to pick a schedule which are from Mondays to Fridays 8am, 10am, 2pm, 3pm, 7pm, and 8pm.
The sessions are usually one hour to two hours, depending on your pacing. GTFO classes usually start with warm-up before proceeding to main the workout–circuit or group workout, then core, and finally some stretching. Each class varies, depending on the customized workout plan by the coach.
For boxing, Grind House offers basic and advanced sessions that come with a trained boxing instructor. If you enroll for boxing, it usually comes with conditioning and is good for eight sessions. While for Muaythai, it comes with a trained Muay Thai instructor and is also good for eight sessions.
One of the hardest parts in finding a gym is finding the right fit. The coaches and your workout buddies really count. They will help you push yourself and finish the workouts that are specially designed for you. We attended the 7 pm GTFO classes headed by Coach Quinno and Coach Pabs. If you want to have fun and try a session, you can book a trial with them.
