We spoke with two hardworking moms and asked for some tips and tricks. Surprisingly, their life hacks even involve getting food via drive-thru—specifically, their go-to restaurant chain: McDonald’s!
These two moms gave us a quick rundown of what their average busy day looks like, and how McDonald’s Drive-Thru helps with their fully packed schedule.
Nikki Viola is a single mother of one who is also a full-time content creator and events host; while Kay Ang is a mom to three daughters and runs a business with her husband.
So, what does a day in the life of a working mom look like?

Nikki says that “a day in the life of a working mom has no specific routine!“ Because her daughter grows up so fast, Nikki makes sure to spend time with her every morning, and then do work from lunch onwards. Sometimes her work—which mostly involves editing videos and hosting gigs—can go all the way until nighttime. She also shares that even when she’s tired from a long day of work, she still plays with her daughter at the end of the day.
Kay shares that her typical day is “like running a marathon with multiple hurdles,” saying that her day starts even before the sun comes up.
“Throughout the day, I’m constantly checking my schedule, making mental notes of pickups, drop-offs, and any unexpected meetings. Balancing work and family is a constant juggling act,” she adds.
But even with many commitments and daily errands coming at her left and right, Kay shares that there are “moments of joy” such as a quick cuddle with the kids or a supportive text from her partner. “It’s exhausting, but seeing the smiles on my kids’ faces makes it all worth it.”
She also admits that finding the balance is not easy, but she says that she’s learned to be kind to herself and prioritize the things that matter—”at the end of the day, that’s what being a working mom is all about – doing the best I can and cherishing the moments with my loved ones.”
“How do you ensure the family enjoys a great meal even during busy days?”

Kay is all about meal preparation when it comes to keeping the family well-fed. She says that preparing everything during the weekends—going on a grocery run, chopping or slicing vegetables, or marinating meat—saves her a lot of time during the week and ensures that the family has hearty meals ready to go.
However, on super hectic days, Kay shares that another option she relies on is ordering McDonald’s through drive-thru.
“It’s quick, convenient, and my family always loves the familiar taste of their favorites. […] It’s a lifesaver on those days when cooking just isn’t feasible, and it allows us to still enjoy a satisfying meal together without the stress of cooking and cleaning up,” she shares.
Nikki, on the other hand, says that she tries to bring her family with her to work whenever possible. But if not, she always grabs some food via McDonald’s Drive-Thru.
“It’s our go-to food especially if we don’t want to think about what we’ll eat,” Nikki shares. “My daughter loves the chicken fillet with rice and fries so she’s super happy when she goes with us kapag drive-thru!”
