Gen. Sinas to remain as Metro Manila Police Chief, called too “hard to replace”

Last May 8, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) organized a birthday celebration for NCRPO Chief Major General Debold Sinas in Camp Bagong Diwa. The NCRPO PIO shared photos of the celebration on their Facebook page but later on took down the post.

While Maj. Gen. Sinas and 18 other officers were charged last Friday for allegedly violating pandemic protocols, PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa has declared Sinas will remain in his post.

“Yes, I hope the public would understand kasi nandito tayo sa emergency situation, pag palitan mo siya, we will never know. Napakahirap palitan dahil ang dami niyang programa in relation to COVID,” Gen. Gamboa told ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo when asked if Maj. Gen. Sinas would remain as NCRPO Chief.

[Yes, I hope the public would understand because we are in an emergency situation, if you replace him, we will never know. He’s hard to replace because he has so many COVID-19 programs.]

Gen. Gamboa added that Maj. Gen. Sinas was the one who put a stop to illegal gambling as NCRPO Chief.

According to the PNP Chief, Maj. Gen. Sinas is now facing administrative charges of less grave neglect of duty and less grave misconduct, which may be upgraded during the course of the trial. The administrative case has been forwarded to Malacañang for clearance of investigation.
