Franchise Excellence Awards: The Oscars of Philippine Franchising

11th Franchise Excellence Awards Unveils New Award Categories

In response to the continuous evolution of the Philippine franchise sector, the Philippine Franchise Sector (PFA) announced the addition of new award categories of the Franchise Excellence Awards (FEA) – the Oscars of Philippine franchising. Heading the list of the new additions is the President’s Award, which recognizes Filipino franchises that have become benchmarks in overseas expansion.

The other new awards include the Regional and National Franchisee Award for franchisees who have epitomized success and growth in franchise operations; the International Franchisee Award for franchisees of Philippine franchises operating overseas who have made significant contributions to the growth of the franchisor’s brand in the host country; a Special Award for Most Outstanding Environmental Management Program; and a Special Award for Best CSR Program.

Now on its 11th run, FEA FEA encourages continuous improvement of the sector and make it at par with, or even better than the world’s best. “The Awards,” said 11th FEA Chair Yvette Pardo-Orbeta, “is part of PFA’s efforts to promote franchising as a tool for economic development and nation-building through job-generation and enterprise-creation.” Furthermore, FEA hopes to empower and professionalize homegrown franchises and top performing master franchises to meet world-class standards; and to actively promote Filipino franchises internationally.

“In fact,” Ms Orbeta pointed out, “FEA has helped raise the level of Philippine franchising and has seen many of its awardees venturing into overseas expansion, raising the Philippine flag on foreign soils.”

A joint project of PFA and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in cooperation with the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), FEA is the only award of distinction from the Philippine franchise sector and the pioneer seal of recognition and excellence awarded to the country’s local and foreign franchisors who have epitomized excellence both in terms of business growth and good ethical practices. Its winners include the who’s who in Philippine franchising, which have become benchmarks of success in the sector.

Other awards up for grabs are the Outstanding Filipino Franchise Award, the International Master Franchise Award, the Best Overall Marketing Campaign and the Most Promising Filipino Franchise Award.

FEA nominees are judged based on a carefully crafted set of criteria: These include the franchise concept’s franchise program, sales and marketing program, franchising operating system, corporate social responsibility, as well as ethical practices and reputation. The deciding factors include the growth and financial performance / profitability of each nominee.
