In 2016, Filipino singer Michael David Bodin became the champion of the popular singing competition show, “I Can Sing in Japanese!”
The show was said to be about non-native Japanese speakers who can and are passionate about singing Japanese songs.
Come 2017, a Filipina singer, Krissha Viaje, is aiming for a back-to-back win on the said singing contest.
Krissha recently won over 11 other finalists from different countries including Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines. She has moved to the final round of the search.
Not new to singing contests, she joined and won at the now defunct talent contest show “Little Big Star” in 2006. She was also part of the group Oh My Girls with Ylona Garcia and Alexa Ilacad for the show “We Love OPM: The Celebrity Sing-Offs” and the GirlTrends of “It’s Showtime” also for ABS-CBN.
A big fan of Japanese shows, she won invitational auditions held in Singapore. She caught the attention of the judges with her soulful rendition of “Precious” by Yuna Ito, the theme song from the movie “Limit of Love Umizaru.”
