Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran will be presented with the Hal David Starlight Award at the 2017 Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala this year!

According to a statement by the Songwriters Hall of Fame:

“Ed Sheeran has accomplished so much in pop music that it is hard to believe he is only 26. He is not an overnight sensation, however, having immersed himself in songwriting, recording and performing since his early teens. His natural talent as a singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer has brought him well-deserved success.”

This award is a feather in Ed’s cap after making a huge comeback this year, following a year-long hiatus in 2016.

Ed will join the likes of Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Berry Gordy, Jay Z, and other artists who will also be recognized that night.

The 26-year-old will join fellow honourees Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds, Berry Gordy, Jay Z, and others at the induction ceremony on 15 June (17).

Launched in 2004, the Hal David Starlight Award gives distinction to  young songwriters who have made their impact in the music industry. Previously awarded the honor include Taylor Swift, John Legend, Alicia Keys, Drake, and Nick Jonas.

Congratulations, Ed!
