We all know and love the brand Ajinomoto (or Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation a.k.a. APC)—but did you know that they are more than just about seasoning? APC has long been committed to promoting wellness, nutrition, and sustainability in Filipinos’ daily lives.
In line with this mission, APC supports the Ajinomoto Scholarship Foundation every year to find one academically outstanding Filipino student in the fields of Food Technology, Nutrition, Chemistry or Engineering and help them pursue higher studies abroad.
So if you’ve always envisioned completing your postgraduate dreams in Japan, seize the opportunity to apply for the 2027 Ajinomoto Foundation Postgraduate Scholarship Grant! Applications are ongoing until March 2, 2026.
One (1) successful candidate will be awarded the scholarship grant.

Aside from full coverage of admission and tuition fees, the scholarship also includes up to ¥180,00 (PHP67,000+) monthly allowance, Japanese language training, flight to Japan, and fees for entrance, medical, and psychological exams.
The successful scholarship awardee will get a chance to study at either of the following prestigious Japanese universities:
- University of Tokyo
- Kyoto University
- Nagoya University
- Institute of Science Tokyo
- Ochanomizu University
- Waseda University
- Japan Nutrition University (formerly Kagawa Nutrition University)
Requirements for application
Interested? Aspiring applicants to the 2027 Ajinomoto Foundation Postgraduate Scholarship Grant must meet the following initial requirements:
- Must be a Filipino citizen under the age of 35 by April 1, 2026.
- Have completed or are expected to complete over 15 years of graduate education before March 2026.
- Must have an excellent academic record; be part of the top 5% of the class or have a GWA of at least 1.25 (GPA of 2.75).
- Must receive recommendations from their university president or academic advisor.
- Must show proof of need for financial support.
- Must be ready to take on a master’s degree in the fields of Food Technology, Nutrition, Chemistry, and Engineering.
- Must demonstrate good character, excellent academics, and motivation for learning.
- Should not be a current recipient of other scholarships.
- Be in good physical and mental health.
- Must be able to participate in the screening process in the Philippines.
Additional requirements may be requested upon passing of initial screening processes.
How to apply

If you meet the initial requirements and are ready to apply, here’s what you need to prepare.
1. Download and accomplish the following forms:
- Application Form 1
- Application Form 2
- Here’s an example of how to properly fill out your application forms.
- Field of Study and Program Form
- Application Details of the Universities
- Financial Assistance Form
- Recommendation Forms
- At least 2 recommendations from your university professors or advisors
- Recommendation forms should be enclosed in a sealed envelope with your professor’s or advisor’s signature on the envelope’s flap.
2. Prepare the following supporting documents:
- Transcript of Records (original or certified true copy)
- If your transcript does not show a General Weighted Average (GWA), provide a certificate stating your GWA and its equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA).
- If your transcript shows a General Weighted Average (GWA), provide a certificate stating its equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA).
- Certified true copy of university or college diploma
- For graduating students who cannot provide at the time of application, submit a Certificate of Graduation instead.
- Photocopied proof of Japanese Language Proficiency
- Japanese Language Test Results or TOEFL and GRE scores, if available.
4. Prepare your proof of need for financial assistance:
- For employed applicants
- Latest Income Tax Return of Certificate of Compensation / Tax withheld, and;
- Latest Certificate of Employment and Compensation indicating annual/monthly salary, bonuses, and commissions with signature of authorized company representative.
- For married applicants
- Latest Income Tax Return of Certificate of Compensation / Tax withheld of your spouse.
- Latest Certificate of Employment of your spouse with signature of authorized company representative (Note: for applicants whose spouse is retired, deceased, or unemployed, submit a certificate issued by a local agency, company or government with respective signatures).
- For single and unemployed applicants
- For applicants with employed parents, submit the latest Certificate of Employment of your employed parent/s.
- For applicants with self-employed parents/guardians:
- Business/DTI Permit, with detailed description of the business.
- Income and expenses financial statement of previous year.
- For applicants with parents/guardians not filing an ITR:
- Letter indicating the reason for non-filing.
- Certified true copy of Certificate of Non-Filing from Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
- For applicants with retired parents/guardians, submit Retirement and/or Pension Voucher
- For applicants with unemployed parents, submit Certificate of Indigency from barangay of residence with respective signatures.
- For applicants with deceased parents/guardians, submit a certification from barangay of residence with respective signatures.
5. Submit your documents
Have all your documents ready? Great! To submit, make sure to place all your accomplished forms and supporting documents in a sealed long brown envelope and send it to the APC office in Makati.
