Cheers to Filipino representation! Dolly de Leon and Jon Jon Briones secured roles in the hit series Avatar: The Last Airbender.

A social media post revealed that Dolly and Jon Jon are among the stars joining the American series.
“Welcome the new faces joining the cast of Avatar: The Last Airbender Seasons 2 and 3,” the caption read.
The renowned 56-year-old actress will join Season 2 as Lo and Li, the fire-bending twin advisers to the Fire Nation’s Princess Azula. Meanwhile, the 59-year-old Filipino-American actor is set to appear in Season 3 as Piandao.
Following the announcement, the acclaimed actress expressed her enthusiasm about joining the series.
“I’m extremely excited and honored to be part of an iconic live-action version of an animated cult classic. It’s my first time to play twins, which is the best fun in a creative process. It’s a dream come true,” she shared in a press release by CreaZion Studios.

Apart from the two Filipino stars, more actors will be joining Seasons 2 and 3, including Madison Hu as Fei, Dichen Lachman as Yangchen, Lily Gao as Ursa, Terry Chen as Jeong Jeong, and Tantoo Cardinal as Hama.
Gordon Cormier, who stars as Aang in the Netflix live-action series, is a Canadian actor whose mother hails from Santa Rosa, Laguna.
Dolly de Leon is a multi-award-winning actress who rose to international recognition when she starred in Triangle of Sadness, where she won the Guldbagge Award and received nominations for a Golden Globe and a BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress. For this career milestone, she became the first Filipino to be nominated for the prestigious awards.
Following her career high, the Golden Globe nominee starred in more acclaimed films such as The Missing and A Very Good Girl, as well as television shows like Dirty Linen and Simula sa Gitna. She is also set to appear in the American drama series Nine Perfect Strangers as Agnes.
Meanwhile, Jon Jon Briones gained recognition for his outstanding work in musical theater. For his impeccable performance as Engineer in the West End revival of Miss Saigon in 2014, he was nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical.
