It’s been five years since Darren Espanto stole the spotlight as a contestant and eventual finalist of The Voice Kids Philippines in 2014.
To commemorate how far he’s gone, he took to Instagram to share a clip from his blind auditions dated June 1, 2014 which he said changed the course of his life forever. “Fast forward to today and here I am living my dream,” he wrote.

He went on to thank his supporters, The Darrenatics, which he now calls family. “THANK YOU for STAYING with me,” he said. “Thank you for the sleepless nights you guys put in to vote for me whenever I am nominated. For spending your hard earned money on tickets to my shows that you could have used for yourself. For traveling from far places just to see me perform. For defending me always.”
He continued: “Your efforts are out of this world and will never go unnoticed. I appreciate each and every one of you and I couldn’t ask for more.”
“Thank you for making my dreams a reality! Y’all inspire me to do better. I don’t know what I did to deserve all your love,” he added.
Darren won second to Lyca Gairanod in the first season of The Voice Kids Philippines. He has released three studio albums since then and has held solo concerts around the world.
