When in Manila and trying to beat the summer heat, we tend to head to the mall to chill and cool ourselves down. But hanging out at your favorite shopping center can also be tiresome, thus probably sending a grumble to your tummy. And when it’s summer, our go-to treats are something cold, like ice cream or iced drinks. What a nice way to refresh, right?
One day, on a particularly humid night, my friend and I went to check out this café that offers “snow ice.” I got curious about it since I wanted to try something different. It was new to my ears, and so as we made our way to Fishermall, I got really excited to know how this snow ice would taste.
Three floors up and we were right in front of Coldlayers Café. Posters of snow ice in many delicious flavors made my heart jump with delight (just looking at them made my mouth water) and so without further ado, I opened the door to this snow ice heaven.
Coldlayers Café opened last year, and has since been gaining a loyal following of lovers of (what else?) their snow ice. But their café is actually more than that! Aside from the unique dessert, they also have to-die-for dishes that’s surprisingly good!
To tease your tastebuds, have some French Onion Soup. I liked how it’s cheesy but not salty, perfectly blending in with the sharp taste of onion and the warm sensation with every spoonful.
We tried some of their drinks too: Passion Fruit Yakult Tea and Wintermelon Milk Tea.
The Passion Fruit Yakult Tea was refreshing and fun to drink! See those pinkish pearls in the drink? They burst in your mouth! The Wintermelon Milk Tea will always be a favorite, though. It’s not too sweet and has the right level of creaminess.
The signature pasta of Coldlayers Café is definitely one for the books! The Coldlayers Pasta is too good for words. It’s hard to believe how they cooked it without any meat but still turned out to be that delicious! It’s good for sharing, but I can finish the whole plate because it’s just so yummy.
Next up is their Roast Beef, which is also lip-smackingly terrific! The meat is so tender and luscious.
And now, of course, the star of Coldlayers Café: Snow Ice! We devoured on four of their best-selling flavors: Soy Snow Ice, Milk Snow Ice, Salted Caramel Snow Ice, and one of their Snow Ice Special Series, Deep Temptation!
The Soy Snow Ice will remind you of childhood days, with the taste of cold taho lingering in your tongue. It’s our most favorite among the four.
The Milk Snow Ice, on the other hand, is great for kids! They’ll surely love this!
You’ll fall in love with the Salted Caramel Snow Ice. Layers of shaved Salted Caramel ice drizzled with caramel sauce is a winner!
Lastly, the Deep Temptation Snow Ice lives up to its name. Choco snow ice topped with slices of bananas and mallows with choco syrup will get two-thumbs up for both choco and non-choco lovers alike.
What’s unique about Coldlayers Café’s dessert is its smoothness and quality of taste. It’s not frosty, like gelato or ice cream. And once you taste it, you’ll know why it’s exceptionally matchless.
You’ll love to go back to this café not only for the food, but also for its cute interiors which feature their adorable iconic characters. It’s perfect for taking selfies and instagram-worthy shots! Add to it the cozy, chill vibe and bright, colorful setting. Who could resist?
So when trying to beat the summer heat, cool down at Coldlayers Café and enjoy cup after cup of snow ice and other luscious treats.
