“My luv & my life,” Claudine Barretto writes on her Instagram post paying tribute to her late ex-boyfriend Rico Yan, who would have turned 44 years old last Thursday, March 14. The post featured a collage of different photos of Rico Yan which she then followed up with a touching poem dedicated to him, saying that he is “In my heart every single day.”

I thought of you today but that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday and the days before that too. I think of you in silence, I often speak your name. All I have are memories and your picture in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake from which I’ll never part. God has you in his arms, I have you in my heart.
Rico Yan died on March 29, 2002, in his sleep due to acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis while on vacation in Palawan. He and Barretto had been dating then and were considered one of the favorite love teams in the 90s. They both starred in hit romcoms Dahil Mahal Na Mahal Kita and Got 2 Believe. Since his death, Barretto has consistently paid tribute to her late co-star and lover on Instagram whenever she can—sharing their old love notes to each other and visiting his grave.
