Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK) host Charo Santos-Concio spoke up about the controversy surrounding the drama anthology’s recent episode on Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach’s life, portrayed by Liza Soberano.
According to ABS-CBN, Concio said in an interview that the”MMK” team ensured to get the beauty queen’s story from no one but Pia herself.
“We talked to Pia. ‘MMK’ talked to Pia. That’s her story so we respect her story.”
After the episode aired last Saturday, Pia’s half-brother and her late father’s partner criticized the episode through Facebook posts, claiming that Pia lied about her father.
In one scene, the episode showed Pia’s father calling her after her stint on Binibining Pilipinas to seek financial help for his medication, which she refused to give.
