Celebrating Women In Action: Michelle Yeoh Received The 2023 Women In Motion Award

In a world that constantly thrives on recognizing women’s achievements, it’s important to remember that the acknowledgment doesn’t stop after Women’s Month. This year, we continue to honor remarkable women who have made a significant impact. Leading the way is the phenomenal actress and producer Michelle Yeoh, who was recently bestowed with the prestigious 2023 Women in Motion Award.

During the special event hosted by Kering and the Festival de Cannes, luminaries from the entertainment industry, including Isabelle Huppert, Leonardo DiCaprio, Salma Hayek Pinault, Zar Amir Ebrahimi, Jeanne Herry, Alfonso Cuaron, Kaouther Ben Hania, Hirokazu Kore-eda came together to pay tribute to Michelle Yeoh. François-Henri Pinault, Chairman and CEO of Kering, Iris Knobloch, President of the Festival de Cannes, and Thierry Frémaux, General Delegate of the Festival de Cannes, presented her with the 2023 Women in Motion Award.

In her inspiring acceptance speech, Michelle Yeoh urged women everywhere to persist, push boundaries, and share their stories fearlessly. She emphasized the importance of their voices and visions, reminding everyone that she stands alone alongside countless talented women on the stage.

 She said: “For too long, we as women have been left out of rooms and conversations. We have been told the door is closed to us. (…) Our ideas are endless. Our passion is infinite. And we have come to knock that door down.”

The evening also celebrated emerging talent, with Swiss director Carmen Jaquier receiving the Emerging Talent Award. The distinguished guest list included Rossy De Palma, Lily Gladstone, Bianca Li, Naomi Campbell, Zhou Dongyu, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Anaïs Demoustier, and Jeremy O. Harris, who added their own brilliance to the memorable occasion.
