‘Golden Boy’ Carlos Yulo To Receive P3.2 Million SEA Games Bonus

After collecting 7 medals in various events, Carlos Yulo concluded his 30th Southeast Asian Games run as the most bemedalled athlete from the Philippines contingent. Beyond praise and love from the public, Carlos will also be acknowledged for this feat with a Php 3.2 million cash bonus from the government.

(Carlos Yulo Concludes SEA Games Run With 7 Medals)

According to Rappler, this amount will be awarded on the basis of promised incentives from the Philippine Sports Commission Act (RA 10699), the Philippine Olympic Committee, and President Rodrigo Duterte.

The incentive system of the PSC Act awards Php 300,000 for a gold medal, Php 150,000 for a silver medal and Php 60,000 for a bronze medal in the regional sporting event. Meanwhile, the Philippine Olympic Committee has dictated a Php 300,000 bonus for gold medalists. And President Duterte has promised P250,000 for a gold, P150,000 for a silver and P100,000 for a bronze.

With 2 gold medals and 5 silver medals, Yulo will be given Php 1.7 million for his first-place finishes and Php 1.5 million for his second-placers.

Yulo earned the 2 golds for the men’s all-around event and the floor exercises event. His silver medals come from the vault, still rings, pommel horse, parallel bars and horizontal bar events.

Malacañang will be giving out incentives to 149 gold, 117 silver, and 120 bronze medalists during an awarding ceremony on Wednesday, December 18.
