BTS has been a force to be reckoned with, topping charts and breaking records with every song and album they release. However, questions regarding their eventual mandatory military service in South Korea cannot be avoided, which draws much closer than any of us could ever believe.

In an interview with CBS This Morning, the topic of the military service was raised. “As a Korean, it’s natural,” Jin, the eldest member of the group and who will most likely leave to serve first, said. “And someday when duty calls, we’ll be ready to respond and do our best.

When asked whether the group worries about splitting up eventually and how it will affect their music in the long run, youngest member Jungkook replied, “I don’t want to think about it at this point. We have something really good going.”

This is seconded by group leader RM. “We just enjoy the ride, live in the moment, and that’s all we can do.”

All men born in South Korea who reach the age of 18 to 28 are expected to serve in the military for 21 to 24 months. BTS, whose members are currently aged between 21 to 26, have already delayed their service in the past. Their simple and unambiguous answers to the interview, however, prove that claims about them being exempted from service are false and that they truly are prepared to serve the country.
