According to the digital travel website, Panglao made it to the eighth spot with a 77% increase in flight searches in the first half of 2024.
“Panglao Island, located in the province of Bohol, Philippines, is emerging as another Asian wellness and wellbeing destination, and a great alternative to more familiar places in Europe,” the travel agency wrote.
Panglao, home to pristine beaches, exquisite tourist resorts, and world-class diving, is an emerging tourist destination for tourists and divers worldwide.
Meanwhile, Reggio Calabria, Italy topped the list with an impressive 541% increase in flight searches during the first half of 2024.
With Panglao Island recognized as one of the most trending destinations for next year, the Department of Tourism (DoT) celebrated the tropical island as a “testament to the growing global interest” in the Philippines.
“Visitors are drawn to Panglao’s pristine beaches, Chocolate Hills, and eco-sites like the Loboc River and Tarsier Sanctuary, showcasing Bohol’s commitment to sustainable tourism while its growing wellness hub status attracts travelers seeking tranquil getaways,” the DoT captioned on their post.
Skyscanner is a Scotland-based search aggregator and travel agency that features flight options, hotel accommodations, and car hire for millions of travelers worldwide. For this list, the digital global platform ranked destinations based on increases in flight searches from January 1 until June 30, 2024.
