After five years of defining excellence in esports, Blacklist International has announced its departure from the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Professional League (MPL) scene.
In a lengthy social media post on January 21, the team bid farewell to its beloved supporters, whom they fondly call “Agents.”
“Our Mobile Legends: Bang Bang menโs squad was a team that literally changed the game: from the multiple championships, the UBE strategy, and highlight reels, to our jersey designs and viewership numbers that made us the 3rd most watched esports team in the world,” the announcement read.
“We can stand proud knowing we wrote one of the most captivating stories in MLBB history. But like all great stories, everything must come to an end.”
Blacklist International revealed that its MPL franchise ownership will be transferred to a new entity for MPL Season 15, marking the end of an era for the MLBB menโs squad.
“Though we believe in the future of the MLBB community, with a heavy heart, we bid a bittersweet farewell to the Blacklist MLBB menโs team, as the organization has decided to transfer our MPL Franchise Ownership to a new organization for MPL season 15,” it added.
“This difficult decision was made in response to the business opportunity that was presented to us which aligns with the new direction of Tier One Entertainment to go beyond Esports.”
While the team remains open to re-entering the MLBB scene in the future, it reiterated that, for now, it will focus its efforts on developing rosters for its existing esports titles.
“While Blacklist International is open to reentering the league in the future, we want to use this time to reassess our position in the space,” it noted.
Blacklist International then expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported them as well as the MLBB players who contributed to the team’s success.
“As one story ends, so begins another. Regardless of the future, we will always be proud of our past, and the stories that we had together will remain in our hearts forever. Blacklist International MPL team now signing off,” the post concluded.
In a separate post, Blacklist International shared a touching tribute reflecting on its five-year journey in the MPL scene.
Blacklist International cemented its name in the esports scene by winning three MPL Philippines championship trophies, the M3 World Championship in 2021, and a gold medal in the SIBOL 2022 National Team Selection, among other achievements.
